Baby botox is a technique that uses micro-doses at a small number of points, aiming to soften excessive contraction without limiting expression. It is not a different product — it is a different dosing strategy. At my clinic in Nişantaşı, Istanbul, I use this technique for patients who need to keep their expressions, whether for professional reasons or personal preference.
How it differs from standard treatment
The difference comes down to three things:
Dose. Standard treatment uses doses that clearly limit the line-forming movement of the muscle. Baby botox stays below that with micro-doses; the aim is not to stop the muscle but to reduce its strength somewhat.
Point selection. In standard treatment, all the points needed to limit the movement are used. In baby botox the dose is lower and only the most necessary points are chosen, so part of the muscle keeps working. This is what preserves the flow of expression.
Expected result. Standard treatment gives a more marked opening in a set line. Baby botox softens fine lines and slows their deepening, but may not be enough on its own for a line that has become static.
The trade-off is this: because movement is preserved, the opening achieved is more measured, and the effect usually lasts a little less. I discuss your priority openly at the examination, because the choice between the two approaches depends entirely on what you want.
Which areas
Used in the upper face where preserving expression matters: forehead, frown lines, around the eyes and the brow tail. The anatomy of each area is covered on its own page; the difference here is the dosing logic applied to them.
Who it suits
- First-time patients. A more controlled start for those who want to see how much will change.
- People whose work depends on expression. Actors, presenters, anyone working on camera.
- Those whose lines have not yet set. A micro-dose approach is often preferred at the fine-line stage.
- Anyone who found a previous standard-dose treatment too much. The dosing strategy can be changed next time.

The procedure
At the examination I ask you to make your expressions so I can assess muscle strength, asymmetry and the stage the lines are at. In this technique the decision about which points to leave working determines the result directly, so planning rests on point selection more than on the amount of product.
Numbing cream can be applied beforehand. With micro-needles and the comfort management that comes from anaesthesiology, the process is straightforward. The treatment takes around 10 to 15 minutes.
The effect begins within 3 to 4 days and settles by day 10 to 14. Because micro-doses are used, duration is usually 3 to 4 months. I recommend leaving at least 3 months before repeating.
Visiting Istanbul or living here?
A large part of my patients are people living in Istanbul as foreign residents or visiting the city, so the practical questions come up often.
Same-day, no stay required. This is a walk-in treatment. There is no recovery period and you do not need to extend your trip for it.
Flying is not a problem. Cabin pressure does not affect the result. You can travel the same day.
Aftercare
For the best result, a few simple points on the first day are enough:
- Stay upright for the first 4 hours. Do not lie face down or keep your head bent forward.
- Do not massage or rub the treated area.
- Avoid very hot showers for 24 hours, and saunas and steam rooms for the first week.
- Avoid heavy exercise and intense cardio for the first week.
- Avoid alcohol on the day of treatment.
Mild redness or a small bruise may appear at the injection points and settles within a few days. Allergic reactions are rare, which is why treatments are carried out under medical supervision.

Frequently asked questions
Why does it last less than standard botox?
A lower dose means the muscle starts regaining strength sooner. Expect around 3 to 4 months. In people who continue at regular intervals, this often lengthens.
I have deep lines. Will it work for me?
If your lines are visible even when your face is at rest, a micro-dose approach may not meet your expectation. In that case either a standard dose or a combined plan with treatments supporting skin quality is needed. We decide which suits you at the examination.
I had standard botox and found the result too much. Can this be used next time?
Yes, and this is a common situation. I plan the next treatment by talking through how much movement was lost and where. A new treatment is not given before the previous one has worn off; the interval must be at least 3 months.
Does it make sense as a preventative treatment?
If a line appears only when you make an expression, a micro-dose approach can aim to slow its deepening. But this is not something I recommend to everyone — if your muscle strength is already moderate, it may be unnecessary. I say so plainly at the examination.
