Juvelook is a collagen stimulator containing poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA) and hyaluronic acid. I use this product mainly for acne scarring, pore appearance and skin surface quality.

How does Juvelook work?
PDLLA is a synthetic polymer produced by random copolymerisation of lactic acid monomers. Its structure is less crystalline than PLLA, and that difference matters in practice.
When the microspheres are placed within the dermis they stimulate fibroblast cells and initiate type I collagen production 1. Because PDLLA has lower crystallinity, the likelihood of nodules after injection is low, which makes the product suitable for treating superficial scarring 1. The hyaluronic acid in the formulation extends the duration of the effect 1.
The collagen response becomes noticeable at around week four and reaches its most visible point between the second and third month. The effect lasts on average 18–24 months.
When do I prefer it?
- Atrophic acne scars — particularly rolling and superficial scars
- Enlarged pore appearance
- Roughness and irregularity of the skin surface
- General dullness and loss of skin quality
I do not use Juvelook for shaping or volume. This product works on the skin tissue itself.
It does not give the same result in every type of scar. Rolling and superficial scars respond better, while narrow, sharp-edged deep scars (ice pick type) may not respond adequately to this treatment alone. Those scars may require a combination of methods, and we discuss this during consultation.
Juvelook or diluted Radiesse?
These two products overlap in the area of skin surface quality, and a choice has to be made between them.
The decision is made according to the depth of the scarring and the size of the affected area: where there are a limited number of distinct scars, PDLLA comes forward; where loss of surface quality and firmness across a wider area is the main issue, diluted CaHA comes forward. The final choice is made during consultation.

Where Lenisna comes in
Lenisna, from the same PDLLA class, is also used on the face; what separates the two is the layer in which they are placed.
With PDLLA on the face, the decision depends on the layer of the problem: if scarring, pores and surface roughness dominate, Juvelook, placed within the dermis, comes forward; if deep-layer tissue support and firmness are needed, Lenisna comes forward. The final choice is made at the consultation.

How the treatment is performed
During consultation I assess the scar type, its depth and skin thickness.
Topical anaesthetic cream is standard. Because I am an anaesthesiologist, I treat pain management as a separate part of the procedure.
I place the product within the dermis with a fine needle, across many points. This product is not placed in a deep layer but at the level where the scarring sits.
The treatment takes around 20–30 minutes. You can return to daily life the same day.
Number of sessions: I usually plan 3 sessions at four-week intervals. This can change depending on the density of the scarring.
Duration: On average 18–24 months.
Massage: There is no mandatory massage protocol after Juvelook. This is a practical difference from PLLA products.
Aftercare
First 24 hours
- No make-up on the treated area
- No hot showers, sauna, hammam or steam
- Avoid heavy exercise
- No alcohol
- Do not sleep face-down (facial treatments)
First 48 hours
- Avoid direct and prolonged sun exposure
- No facial massage, skincare treatments or energy-based device treatments
First week
- Avoid intensive lower-body training after body treatments
Expected findings Mild swelling, tenderness or bruising lasting a few days is expected. Part of the fullness seen in the first days is due to swelling and the product’s carrier and settles quickly; this does not mean the effect has worn off.
Mild redness and visible needle marks lasting a few days are also expected after Juvelook.
Safety and anatomy
The most common findings are temporary redness, swelling and tenderness.
Because PDLLA has lower crystallinity, a low likelihood of nodules has been reported with this product 1. Correct placement of the layer remains decisive nonetheless.
Juvelook cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase. For this reason the treatment plan, the choice of layer and patient selection are the most decisive parts of the procedure.
Because allergic reactions can occur rarely, treatments are carried out under medical supervision.
Product and regulatory status: Juvelook has been assessed under CE and TİTCK frameworks for its relevant indications. Approval belongs to the product and to a specific indication, not to a technique or to a physician. I work with products from this class that offer traceability and a certificate of analysis.
Who is not suitable
Treatment is not performed, or is postponed, in the following situations:
- Active infection or inflammation in the treatment area
- Autoimmune disease in an active phase
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Known hypersensitivity to the product components
- Uncontrolled chronic illness
- Untreated bleeding disorder or unregulated anticoagulant use
Specifically for Juvelook, scar treatment is not started during active acne; the acne is brought under control first.
Without being a medical contraindication, I also consider expectation and treatment to be mismatched in these situations:
- People expecting scars to disappear completely
- People expecting a result from a single session
- People with only deep, sharp-edged scars, where a single method will not be sufficient
I am not comfortable with excessive treatment requests. If I believe the expectation does not match what the treatment can deliver, I say so, and I do not recommend a procedure I do not consider necessary. Suitability is determined by consultation in every case.

Planning your visit
My clinic is in Nişantaşı, Şişli, on the European side of Istanbul, approximately 45 minutes from Istanbul Airport.
For a Juvelook treatment I suggest planning a stay of two to three days: arrival, consultation and treatment, and departure. Because this treatment is usually planned as three sessions at four-week intervals, it requires more than one visit. The first session takes place in Istanbul, and we plan the schedule of the following sessions together according to your travel arrangements, with remote follow-up in between. Flying is generally appropriate 24 hours after an injectable treatment.
Consultations are conducted in English, and follow-up after you return home is arranged remotely.
Frequently asked questions
Does Juvelook remove acne scars completely?
No. The aim is not to eliminate scars entirely but to reduce their depth and make the skin surface more even. Rolling and superficial scars show more visible improvement, while sharp-edged deep scars may not respond adequately to this treatment alone.
